Billy Joel fans will be happy to know that on December 29th, 2006, the "Piano Man" recorded a new song, "All My Life," with legendary producer Phil Ramone at Legacy Studios here. Joel wrote it for his wife, Katie, for their second anniversary last October. "All My Life" is the first pop song Billy Joel has recorded since "River of Dreams" in 1993. "Billy Joel Expands Tour Into May"
By: Kym Kilgore
(January 9th, 2007)

Billy Joel has added more shows to his 2007 North American tour, which kicks off February 7th, 2007 in Jacksonville, Florida, and sticks around the East Coast and Midwest into May.

The "Piano Man" will get in a warm-up performance February 4th, 2007, when he sings the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLI in Miami Gardens, Florida. His itinerary is listed below.

Joel's 2006 world tour was his first solo outing since the late '90s; during the interim, he paired with Elton John for their co-headlining "Face 2 Face" tours.

On the new-music front, the New York Post recently reported that Joel recorded a new song, "All My Life," with producer Phil Ramone in December. The paper said it is the first pop song the six-time Grammy winner has recorded since 1993's "River of Dreams."

Joel's latest album, June's "12 Gardens Live," is a two-CD set that features performances from his record-breaking, 12-night stand at New York City's Madison Square Garden last January - April.

In 2005, the artist released a four-disc/one-DVD, career-spanning box-set called "My Lives," which includes rare demos, alternate takes, live performances and cover songs. One of the discs is a DVD, "Live From The River of Dreams," which chronicles Joel's 1994 performance in Frankfurt, Germany.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has sold more than 100 million records over the past quarter-century, according to his web-site.

"Billy Joel To Perform National Anthem"
(January 22nd, 2007)

Grammy-award winning performer Billy Joel will sing the National Anthem during the Super Bowl XLI pre-game show on CBS at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida on Sunday, February 4th, 2007, the NFL announced. Joel becomes the first performer to sing the National Anthem twice in the Super Bowl.

Joel, who has won six Grammys and been nominated for 23 total, is one of the world's most-popular recording artists. His extensive list of accomplishments includes selling more than 100 million records, 33 Top 40 hits. He was awarded the Grammy Legend Award (1991), inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1992) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1999).

Joel's other Super Bowl performance was also in South Florida, prior to Super Bowl XXIII in 1989.

Super Bowl XL was watched by more than 141 million viewers in the US last year. It is annually the nation's highest-rated TV program and the most-watched single-day sporting event. The game will be broadcast to a potential worldwide audience of 1 billion in more than 230 countries and territories.

Joel is among many great performers who have been honored with singing the Super Bowl National Anthem including: Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Whitney Houston, Harry Connick, Jr., Garth Brooks, Natalie Cole, Vanessa Williams, Luther Vandross, Jewel, Cher, Faith Hill, the Backstreet Boys, Mariah Carey, Dixie Chicks, Beyoncé Knowles, and many more.

"Billy Joel's Past Is Coming Back To Haunt Him In A Revealing New Book, Relates The Sun"
(January 26th, 2007)

Claims the "Piano Man" once attempted suicide by swallowing furniture polish and had his wallet stolen by a woman performing fellatio on him under his piano feature in biographer Mark Bego's new tome.

Mark Bego also alleges Joel's second marriage to his "Uptown Girl" muse, model Christie Brinkley, fell apart because the rocker couldn't resist flings with his groupies.

But it's the suicide revelation that will shock many fans.

Mark Bego tells US tabloid the National Enquirer, Joel was so distraught after his first album release with rock band Attila flopped, he tried to take his life.

The author says, "Billy was so distraught he tried to commit suicide by swallowing furniture polish.

"Later on, he joked that he ended up 'farting Lemon Pledge for a week."

"All My Life" Available Exclusively On iTunes (From February 20th, 2007 - March 6th, 2007)

(January 30th, 2007)

Columbia Records will release "All My Life," the long-awaited new pop single from the iconic singer/songwriter/performer Billy Joel. "All My Life" is Billy's first new pop music since his 5x platinum Grammy-nominated album, "River of Dreams," was released in 1993.

"All My Life" was recorded at New York's Legacy Recording Studios and produced by longtime musical associate Phil Ramone, who first worked with Billy on the artist's 1977 breakout album, The Stranger, and shared Grammy Awards with Billy for 1978's Song of The Year, "Just The Way You Are," and 1979's Album of The Year, "52nd Street."

Written as an anniversary present from Billy to his wife, Katie Lee Joel, the romantic "All My Life" will premiere exclusively on PEOPLE.com during the week leading up to Valentine's Day (February 7th, 2007 - February 14th, 2007), where it may be streamed or incorporated into a Valentine's Day e-Card for everyone's special someone.

"All My Life" will be available as an exclusive download on iTunes from February 20th, 2007 - March 6th, 2007 before becoming more widely available online through a variety of digital services.

"Billy Joel Returns To Pop With New Single"
By: Jonathan Cohen
(January 30th, 2007)

After swearing off pop songwriting following his 1993 album "River of Dreams," Billy Joel has returned to the format with a new single, "All My Life." The Phil Ramone-produced track will premiere February 7th, 2007 on People.com, where it will be available for streaming and as music for a Valentine's Day e-card.

It will then be sold exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store from February 20th, 2007 - March 6th, 2007, after which it will available at most digital retailers. A commercial CD release of "All My Life" will follow on a date to be announced, according to Joel's label, Columbia.

Since "River of Dreams," Joel has limited his new music repertoire to classical compositions. However, he still performs his old hits in concert, and will return to the road in North America February 7th, 2007 in Jacksonville, Florida, for a 15-date tour.

The artist will also perform the National Anthem prior to Super Bowl XLI on Sunday (February 4th, 2007) in Miami, Florida.

"Singling His Wife Out"
By: Glenn Gamboa
(January 31st, 2007)

Billy Joel will release his first new pop single in 14 years, after "All My Life," a song he originally wrote as an anniversary present for his wife, Katie Lee Joel, was leaked to radio and immediately generated demand.

"All My Life" will be available on People magazine's Web site starting Feb. 7 and can be downloaded from iTunes starting February 20th, 2007. A CD-single will be released in stores later this year.

"When I finished it, I thought of Tony Bennett," Joel told Newsday in October. "It was like one of his early recordings from the '50s."

Joel recorded the song last year at Legacy Recording Studios in Manhattan with producer Phil Ramone, though he did first offer it to Bennett for possible use on Bennett's "Duets: An American Classic" album.

"All My Life" feels like a classic '50s ballad, with Joel's voice sounding deeper than usual on lines such as, "I've searched this whole world through, try as I might to find someone like you."

Bennett told Newsday last year that he liked Joel's song a lot, but had already decided that he wasn't going to attempt any new material for his "Duets" project. When Bennett learned that "All My Life" was the first new pop song Joel had completed since 1993, he said, "I don't know what he's waiting for. He's so very talented. Everybody's different I guess."

Joel fans hoping for an album's worth of new songs shouldn't hold their breath, though. Joel told Newsday in October that "All My Life" is the only pop song he has finished since his 1993 album "River of Dreams."

"I write a lot of music in general, but it's gotta be for fun for me," he said. "Putting together an album for money or for other people is just not good enough a reason for me."

However, Joel, who will sing the national anthem at Sunday's Super Bowl, still enjoys performing. He launches his latest tour on February 7th, 2007 in Jacksonville, Florida.

"Billy Joel's First Pop Song In 13 Years"
By: Andrew Tijs
(January 31st, 2007)

Superstar pop crooner Billy Joel announces his pop comeback after thirteen years.

The ridiculously successful singer and piano man made his fortune with hokey tin pan alley, soft rock and doo-wop but following 1993's "River Of Dreams" Joel retired from the pop scene to make classical music. Now the man who virtually defined the term Adult Contemporary for almost two decades returns to the pop arena.

Billboard reports that new single "All My Life" will be released on February 7th, 2007 through American entertainment portal People.com, streaming and as part of a Valentine's Day e-Card. After fans have had a sample, the single will go on sale exclusively through iTunes from February 20th, 2007 to March 6th, 2007, then to other digital retailers, with a final physical release date to be confirmed by his label Columbia.

While Joel has stopped releasing pop music, it hasn't stopped him from incessantly touring his back catalogue He spent most of 2006 on a greatest hits tour through the US, the UK, Italy, South Africa, Australia and Japan. His touring will continue through the US in 2007, beginning with a performance of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in Miami on February 4th, 2007.

"Billy Joel Re-Starts The Fire"
By: Joshua Rich
(January 31st, 2007)

Now, about Billy Joel. Remember him? He goes to extremes. He's also making headlines today with the announcement that he's releasing his first pop single in a decade and a half. (Yay. Oh, the excitement: Long Island just exploded.) The song, titled "All My Life," is dedicated to Billy Joel's young wife, Katie Lee Joel (aka the hottie who hosted the first season of "Top Chef" but was replaced by fellow trophy wife Padma Lakshmi this season). The song is supposed to be available on People.com on February 7th, 2007 (just in time for those hot Valentine's Day dates in Ronkonkoma, people!) and then on iTunes February 20th, 2007. Here's the whole scoop, from, naturally, Newsday.

Anyway, seriously, Virginia, this is a big deal. If you're not from Suffolk County, NY, you may not have realized that the "Piano Man" has been in semi-retirement since the mid-1990s. While he's been touring and releasing classical music works, his rock career has been on the back burner. But between singing the national anthem at that big football game thing on Sunday and this bit of news, it's looking like we might be in store for a big Billy Joel comeback. Are you ready?
