"Billy Joel Loses Sagaponack Neighbor In $22 Million Sale"
By: Valerie Kellogg
(March 5th, 2008)

An oceanfront 5,000-square-foot modern-style house designed by Philip Johnson in Sagaponack just sold for $22 million. Built in 1976, the two-story cedar-exterior house features eight bedrooms, six baths, a heated pool and a tennis court.

The taxes are $32,823 per year.

The original asking price was $25 million. The 3.75-acre property was later lowered to $22 million. Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate handled the exclusive listing. It closed February 29th, 2008.

The owner is William Spier, who was the director and chairman of the board at Empire Resources Inc., a distributor of semi-finished aluminum products. The buyer was not immediately known.

Billy Joel and his wife, Katie Lee, bought two homes in Sagaponack last year.

"Billy Joel's All Keyed Up For More Mohegan Sun Dates"
(March 14th, 2008)

The "Piano Man" might as well leave his keys at the Mohegan Sun for the entire summer.

The Daily News has learned that Billy Joel, who just added an eighth show to his rolling debut engagement at the Sun, will do two more shows - July 3rd, 2008 & July 5th, 2008.

Sun senior VP Paul Munick refused to confirm or deny the new concerts, but it is a done deal.

Tickets are expected to go on sale March 21st, 2008, at the same price as the previous dates - $49.50 and $98.50.

"The public is speaking," says Munick. "You take the first two shows. He sold them out in minutes, and it just snowballed from there. We kept adding one [show] after another because of the demand to see him. Outside of Shea Stadium, this is the only place he'll be appearing in the Northeast."

Joel will make "The Last Play at Shea" July 16th, 2008 & July 18th, 2008, becoming the last performer to give a concert at the Queens ballpark before it is torn down.

"There was a window of opportunity to get him, so we said 'Let's go for it,'" says Munick.

And it paid off - not only for the Mohegan Sun, but also for Joel. Although nobody is saying, we hear that Joel will rake in a high six-figure paycheck for each concert, and maybe as much as $1 million.

"Billy & Katie Lee Joel Chat With Oprah"
By: Glenn Gamboa
(March 25th, 2008)

Discuss The Worst Billy Joel Interview - Ever!

Billy Joel and wife, Katie Lee, offered fans a glimpse into their lives together on Monday's "Oprah," sitting with Oprah Winfrey for their first ever joint interview.

Joel seemed fine performing "Only The Good Die Young" with his band, but looked a little uncomfortable sitting on the couch next to Winfrey, who rolled through his career, his driving mishaps and stint in rehab in a matter of minutes.

Winfrey talked him into admitting he was a legend, though he did back away from her description of his glamorous lifestyle.

"I've never been a glamour boy," said Joel. "My house is glamorous. I try to surround myself with as much glamour as I can."

"But you don't think you are?" asked Winfrey.

"Nah," said Joel.

Katie Lee Joel, on the other hand, played the role of hostess for the "Oprah" cameras, taking them on a tour of the couple's West Village home - decorated by Winfrey pal Nate Berkus - introducing them to their pug, Fionoula, and cooking a meatloaf.

As the Joels sat on the couch holding hands, Katie Lee explained to Winfrey how the 32-year age difference never really mattered to them. "He has this job that's allowed him to be really immature for a long time and I happen to be more mature for my age, so we meet somewhere in the middle," she said.

"When it works, when it clicks, you don't fight it," Billy Joel added. "You just go with it... I would've married her if she was 30 years older than me."

"Billy Joel Puts His Centre Island Home Back On Market"
By: Valerie Kellogg
(March 28th, 2008)

Powerhouse broker Dolly Lenz of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate now has the listing for Billy Joel's "Middlesea" estate in Centre Island, New York. The 14,000 square-foot house is listed for $32.5 million. Lenz describes the property on her site as a "magnificent Tudor-style waterfront manor...sited on over 14 acres of rolling lawns and naturalized landscaping." The estate "boasts 1,550 feet of direct waterfront that affords mesmerizing water views from every vantage point." Apparently "Oprah" designer Nate Berkus not only did up Joel and wife, Katie Lee's place in the West Village, as we discovered this week on the show. According to the Prudential listing, Berkus designed the living room here, too.

The property includes a gym, indoor and outdoor pools, a gourmet kitchen, a tennis court, a bowling alley, a guest cottage, a music room, a smoking bar, and a wine cellar. There are threef buildings, with a total of 24 rooms, including eight full baths and five half-baths. There are 13 fireplaces.

Annual taxes are $208,463.

Joel last had the house listed with Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty for $32.5 million. The listing lapsed last year, although word was that he still wanted to sell it.

"Billy Joel Eyes Movin' Out Once Again"
By: Taylor Vecsey & Christine Field
(March 30th, 2008)

Rocker Billy Joel has launched a new effort to sell his sprawling estate on Long Island's North Shore for a whopping $32.5 million.

Joel's 14,000-square- foot Middlesea mansion is now listed with Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate, which describes it as a "a magnificent Tudor-style waterfront manor...on over 14 acres of rolling lawns and naturalized landscaping."

The 20-room, three-floor mansion was built in 1993 and boasts a Nate Berkus-designed living room, a kitchen with a 34-foot-high ceiling, 13 fireplaces, eight baths, one elevator and 1,550 feet of waterfront.

Berkus also designed Joel and wife Katie Lee's West Village pad, according to Newsday.

Joel and Katie were married in the Centre Island house in 2004.

The property includes a bowling alley, music studio, smoking bar, wine cellar, library, gym, tennis court, indoor and outdoor pools, and a beachside cottage.

Annual property taxes run to $208,463.

Joel first had the house listed with Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty but the listing expired without a sale.

The "Piano Man" told Hamptons raconteur Dan Rattiner he put his house on the market after the Centre Island municipality objected to his plans to repair the dock.
